All you have to do is wrap our sizer around the finger you'd like to measure and adjust it to the size that feels right. The perfect size will be snug enough not to slip off, but loose enough to slide over the knuckle without too much resistance.
How to Use a Ring Sizer
Our free, plastic ring sizer functions like a miniature belt: simply tighten it around your finger until it fits comfortably, then read the corresponding size.
Steps:
- Insert the pointed end through the buckle to create a loop.
- Slide the loop over your finger and adjust until it feels snug but comfortable. Remember to always measure the hand and finger you plan to wear the ring on, as your dominant and nondominant hands can differ slightly in size. Even a small variation can affect how your ring fits.
- Make sure the sizer passes over your knuckle with gentle resistance, this helps ensure your ring won’t slip off.
- Check the size number to the left of the arrow. That’s your US ring size!
- We recommend measuring more than once at different times of day. Finger size can fluctuate slightly due to temperature, activity, or hydration. Taking two or three measurements and comparing them provides a more accurate average. The best time to measure is toward the middle or end of the day when your fingers are at their largest.
Additional Tips:
- Wider bands fit more tightly than thinner ones. Plan to size up by at least a half size for wide bands (over 4mm) and size down accordingly for very thin designs (under 1.3mm).
- Ring sizes are generally measured in millimeters (mm), not inches.
- If your knuckle is noticeably larger than the base of your finger, measure both areas and choose a size in between. This helps the ring slide over the knuckle comfortably while still fitting securely at the base.
A properly fitting ring should:
- Slide smoothly over your knuckle.
- Feel secure but not tight.
- Stay in place without pinching or slipping.

How to Read a Ring Sizer
When reading our Brilliant Earth ring sizer, the number that appears to the left of the arrow is your ring size. For example, if the indicator shows “6,” your size is a US 6.
