5 Wedding Dress Trends (and Rings to Match)

Bridal fashion week just wrapped up in New York, and the Spring 2015 collections are filled with dreamy dresses in styles ranging from old fashioned and romantic to thoroughly modern. If you’re shopping for a wedding dress (or hope to be soon) you’re going to have some very hard decisions ahead! For a preview, check out these five top wedding dress trends that emerged on the runways, each paired with a Brilliant Earth engagement ring that we think captures the same aesthetic.

Fairy Princess

Full skirts made of layer upon layer of ethereal tulle were a big trend on the runways last week–Monique Lhuillier is just one designer who went big with this fairy tale effect. If this style fits your princess-for-a-day fantasies, you’ll also love the Circa Ring, a halo style featuring royal blue sapphires encircling the outer edge of the halo.

Retro Glamour

Naeem Khan The Isadora Ring

The runways saw lots of slinky gowns inspired by Hollywood stars of the 1930s and 1940s, like this drop-dead glamorous beaded design from designer Naeem Khan. A perfect pairing: An antique engagement ring from the Retro era (such as the Isadora Ring) featuring glamorous swirls of glittering diamonds.

Simply Chic

Amsale Bridal 2015Luna

While some designers drew inspiration from the 30s, others (like Amsale Bridal) channeled minimalist 90s style with clean-lined dresses that put the focus squarely on the bride, not on her embellishments. That same sleek and chic aesthetic defines the Luna Ring, a contemporary style featuring a bezel set center diamond and a simple band.

Boho Romantic

Oscar De La Renta BohoThe Willow Ring

Bridal designers always include options for boho brides, and Spring 2015’s free-spirit styles were less hippie, more sweet and romantic (this Oscar de la Renta gown with cotton eyelet embroidered trim is one beautiful example). We think these looks would coordinate perfectly with the Willow Ring, a sophisticated take on nature-inspired style.

Lots of Lace

Carolina Herrera BridalVintage Sapphire and Diamond Engagement Ring

Many designers fell in love with lace in their Spring 2015 collections, and Carolina Herrera was among them. This season’s lace gowns have a romantic vintage vibe but feel modern and not at all fussy, a description that also fits the Vintage Sapphire and Diamond Ring.

So now you buy the gown BEFORE the engagement, so the groom can select a ring to match the gown?? Huh???

lots of Lace is my FAV!!

I think that if I married (again), I would go for a country-western vibe and ask my sister if I could wear my late Mom’s gold band or the Cartier eternity ring I have in a safe deposit box.

I really do not like the barefoot bride, that portends a poor future of barefoot and pregnant.

None of them come close to my tulle with bling and straps renewal gown for 2017

Save the strapless gowns for proms, etc., but brides look more beautiful in a dress that does not show all of her cleavage and “busting” out of her dress. Look like a demure bride !!!
