Letter from our CEO
2025 marked the 20th anniversary of Brilliant Earth’s founding. As I’ve reflected on the last twenty years, two profound themes emerged: the enormity of change—in our Company and our world—and the enduring consistency in who we are, who we strive to be, and our values.
We started Brilliant Earth from my one-bedroom apartment, with the dream of creating a more ethical and transparent jewelry industry and reinventing how jewelry is sourced, designed, and sold. We’ve grown to now 42 locations, including our beautiful new flagship showroom in Beverly Hills, and celebrated milestones and marriages with more than 500,000 customers all over the world. We’ve designed pieces for icons like Beyonce, collaborated with changemakers like the legendary Dr. Jane Goodall, and been featured on red carpets by stars like Selena Gomez, Sabrina Carpenter, and Justin Bieber. Today, Brilliant Earth is recognized as a global leader in ethically sourced fine jewelry.
Over the same twenty years, change around the globe has been immense. The world has seen natural disasters, geopolitical tensions, and wars; financial crises; a global pandemic; powerful protests and social movements; and the impacts of climate change. We’ve witnessed the start of the smartphone era, the inauguration of the first black U.S. president, and now the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence, to name just a few.
Throughout all of this, we’ve never wavered in who we are and what we believe in. Our core values of transparency, sustainability, compassion, and inclusion define us. They are our DNA. We established new standards for traceable sourcing, invested in reforestation, and partnered with mining communities to build supply chains that support fair prices for miners, safe working conditions, and protections for the environment. We created the Beyond Conflict Free™ diamond standard, and are now forging new opportunities for Angola and others with our Pathway to Beyond Conflict Free™ diamonds.
While we can't anticipate all the changes the world will see in the years ahead, our core values will continue to guide us as we drive meaningful impact in the jewelry industry and beyond. Our friendship with Dr. Jane Goodall—and her passing in 2025—has reinforced our sense of responsibility to these values, reminding us that our work is not only about today, but about the legacy we leave for generations to come.
It’s almost hard to believe that these were just our first 20 years. We’ve achieved so much, and we couldn’t have done it without our customers, our employees, our partners, and our friends. As we begin our third decade, I’m more energized than ever about what lies ahead. We're only just beginning.

Natural Diamond
Leadership
From blockchain-verified to our Beyond Conflict Free Diamonds™, Brilliant Earth has been a pioneer in ethical sourcing and diamond traceability from the very beginning.
Natural diamonds have been cherished for their enduring value and passed from generation to generation. They form deep within the Earth under extreme conditions of heat and pressure over billions of years. Each unique in their brilliance, their limited supply makes gemstone-quality diamonds one of the most sought-after materials found on Earth.
At Brilliant Earth, we go far beyond the industry norm (aka the Kimberley Process) to source Beyond Conflict Free Diamonds™ that are ethical and environmentally responsible. Diamonds that meet our Beyond Conflict Free™ criteria provide miners with fair wages and safe working conditions, never fund conflicts, and originate only from specific mine operations that demonstrate a commitment to labor, trade, and environmental standards.
Less than 1% of the world's natural diamonds meet our Beyond Conflict Free™ standard.
In 2025, we expanded our assortment to include Pathway to Beyond Conflict Free™ diamonds that support the improvement of mining practices worldwide. We currently source these diamonds from Angola, where the largest mines are already participating in initiatives like social and environmental certifications.
100% of Brilliant Earth's natural diamond suppliers have been audited for safe working conditions.

Lab Diamond
Innovation
As one of the first to offer lab diamonds as a mining-free option, Brilliant Earth has lab diamonds down to a science.
Chemically, optically, and physically, lab diamonds are identical to natural diamonds. Their only difference is their origins: Lab diamonds are grown in a controlled environment from carbon seeds. Only advanced equipment can identify whether a diamond is lab or natural.
Every lab diamond Brilliant Earth offers passes our strict quality protocols for cut, color, and clarity and is sourced from a supplier that meets our industry-defining standards. Because no industry standard existed for responsible lab diamond manufacturing, we created our own in 2022 using the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) as members of the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex). We pioneered the use of this audit protocol to evaluate lab diamond supplier compliance with our Supplier Code of Conduct and ensure safe working conditions.
All new lab diamond suppliers and their manufacturers are evaluated for compliance with our Supplier Code of Conduct, and 87% of our current lab diamond manufacturers have been audited for safe working conditions. In 2025, we achieved our 2025 Goal of disclosing key metrics and risks identified in factory audit findings, as well as the remediation efforts taken.
32% of Brilliant Earth's lab diamonds were cut and polished with renewable energy, Renewable Energy Credits (RECs), or have an SCS Sustainably Rated Certification.
Brilliant Earth's lab diamond collections are some of the most innovative on the planet:
The Capture Collection
opens in a new window
Grown from carbon before it's released into the atmosphere.
The Renewable Collection
opens in a new window
Grown, cut, and polished with 100% renewable energy from wind and solar.
The Sustainably Rated Collection

Energy and emissions from growing, cutting, and polishing these lab diamonds are offset.
To celebrate 20 years of diamond leadership, Brilliant Earth launched an exclusive and proprietary lab diamond color, Pacific Greenopens in a new window, in 2025: developed by our world-class gemologists, inspired by California's coastal hues, and cut and polished with renewable energy.

Sustainability
In 2024, Brilliant Earth's net-zero targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.
What is the Science Based Targets initiative?
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an organization that helps companies and financial institutions set clear targets for decarbonization in line with the latest climate science.
What are science-based targets?
Science-based targets help companies reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. These targets guide emissions reduction strategies that use scientific data, think beyond the near-term, and create new opportunities by driving innovation and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy.
So why does it matter?
These goals help us work smarter and spot opportunities to cut emissions through better products, services, and tech.
Our 2025 Greenhouse Gas Emissions
You can't reduce what you don't measure. This big picture view of our emissions helps us see where they're coming from and how we can reduce them.
Brilliant Earth's GHG emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) undergo 3rd party assurance. That means that an independent auditor assesses the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of our greenhouse gas inventory and reporting processes to verify that our emissions data meets established standards and can be trusted by stakeholders.
Our Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Included in Brilliant Earth’s 2025 Mission Disclosures and Goals are our SBTi near-term, long-term, and net-zero targets, our 2023 baseline and our 2025 GHG Inventory. Progress towards our SBTi targets will be reported annually in these Disclosures.
Optimizing Energy in Our Showrooms
We believe the Brilliant Earth experience should shine in every detail, from our jewelry to the spaces where you discover it. We love welcoming you to our 42 showrooms (and counting) across the US, each thoughtfully designed to reflect the same care and craftsmanship we put into every piece.
For us, this commitment to intentional experience and design includes our sustainability goals, from energy-efficient systems in our showrooms to minimizing our impact across all our corporate spaces. In 2022, we reevaluated the design of our new showrooms and created our green building standard to reduce energy use.
Since 2023, 10 new showrooms across the US were constructed to use 30% less energy for lighting.
Transitioning to renewable energy across our retail fleet and corporate spaces is critical to meeting our targets. As of 2025, 7 of our showrooms buy renewable energy directly from their electricity providers. Our goal is that all Brilliant Earth showrooms across the US will use renewable energy by 2050, a critical part of our comprehensive commitment to reach net zero.
While we work towards that goal, we have purchased renewable energy credits (RECs) with 3rd party assurance for all non-renewable energy use in our showrooms and corporate spaces. That means our emissions for energy use are zero.
All In on
Packaging
Wasteful packaging has no place in our business, so we have spent serious time and energy making sure ours is responsible and recyclable. Brilliant Earth’s packaging uses recycled materials made with less energy, less water, and fewer emissions.
Our fine jewelry boxes and shipper boxes were redesigned in 2024 to be more efficient, reducing the weight of our e-commerce packaging 44%.

We repurpose your diamonds and jewelry to keep the cycle going.
Golden Opportunity
We refuse to use "dirty gold" because we know how destructive it can be, from ongoing labor abuses to the harmful environmental effects of mining with mercury.
By choosing repurposed precious metals instead, we avoid contributing to these harmful practices while providing the same beautiful, lasting quality. Because Brilliant Earth cares about miners, their wages, their communities, and the environment, We used 99.5% repurposed gold* (a 0.5% increase) and 96.4% repurposed silver* (a 1.4% increase from last year) to craft our fine jewelry collections.
We refer to our gold and silver as “repurposed” because it's not considered a typical waste product. “Recycled gold” is only accurate when the gold is reclaimed from electronic waste.
*Chains and certain components and findings, like peg heads, posts, and clasps may not be from repurposed sources due to limited availability. Limited supply in the market poses a challenge to exclusively source repurposed platinum, so we work with our suppliers to source repurposed platinum when available.
And if our gold isn’t repurposed, it’s Fairmined.
Fairmined turns gold into good. It empowers small-scale miners and encourages responsible mining to minimize environmental impact.
Brilliant Earth has been Fairmined certified since 2015. Every year, we not only increase our Fairmined gold jewelry purchases but also provide grants through the Brilliant Earth Foundation to support artisanal, small-scale miners in Peru's Madre de Dios region.
By expanding our Fairmined Collection to include engagement and wedding ring styles, we have been able to increase our Fairmined gold purchases. In 2025, our Fairmined gold jewelry sales were up 86% year-over-year and we achieved our 5-year goal to increase purchases of Fairmined gold year over year.
Since 2024, we have participated in the Amazon Gold Alliance with Indigenous communities, NGOs, government officials and others across the industry to look at intersectional issues within Amazon gold mining.
Together, we are beginning to create lasting, positive change in the Amazon basin.

Compassion
The Brilliant Earth Foundation
In 2021, we started the Brilliant Earth Foundation* to expand our positive impact. Since then, we've donated $2 million to causes and communities we care about.
Here's a snapshot of some of our achievements from 2025, with the help of our amazing partners.
In 2025, we donated over $355,000 to our global partners.
*The Brilliant Earth Foundation is a corporate advised fund with Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
Gem Legacy Campus
We are in the second year of our three-year, $300K pledge to the Gem Legacy Campus. This grant creates opportunities for students from gem mining families across Tanzania by funding the construction of a gem faceting school, college dormitories, a dining hall, and staff housing to provide a safe, dedicated campus where they can live and study.
Gem Legacy Meal Program
Our grant to Gem Legacy's Meal Program at Kitarini Primary School serves breakfast and lunch to over 900 children in Tanzania every school day for the entire year. That's over 370,000 meals.
Our funding has also contributed to a 90% increase in attendance with over 90% of students passing their final exams, up from a passing rate of less than 10% before the meal program.
Pure Earth & The Women's Mining Network
We expanded our positive impact with our long-time partner Pure Earth by sponsoring the Women's Mining Network of Madre de Dios.
Mining with mercury poses serious threats to both ecosystems and the health of miners and their communities. Through our partnership with Pure Earth, we train small-scale gold miners to adopt mercury-free extraction methods while rehabilitating damaged rainforests.
The Women's Mining Network project brings together a diverse group of women miners from mining zones across Madre de Dios, each with different operational scales but with the same eagerness to improve their practices. Our grant launch focused on establishing technical training programs centered on clean gold extraction methods such as shaking tables, developing reforestation plans for mine closure, and showcasing the project's progress at national and international forums.
Pure Earth & AMATAF
In 2025, our 4-year grant to Pure Earth, Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM), and AMATAF (La Asociación Minera Tauro Fátima) in Madre de Dios came to an end. We are proud to say that over 4 years, Brilliant Earth's grant helped the first (and only) four gold mines in the Amazon become Fairmined certified, plant 7,580 new native saplings, and reforest 4.75 hectares in the Peruvian Amazon.
