I took a risk choosing this style of engagement ring as it wasn't the traditional diamond-only piece of jewellery, however I knew that sapphire was my fiance's birthstone and she'd always wanted a sapphire ring (although she'd never mentioned it in relation to engagement rings!).I am so glad I took a chance as my fiance LOVES this ring: she loves the wavy shape, the colour of the sapphire, the little diamond accents which nod toward the traditional engagement ring, but most of all she loves that she's the only person she knows with this type of ring. She pretty much spent the entire weekend of our engagement gazing at it. She's even talked about getting a matching wedding band so that she can wear both at the same time.Everyone I've shown the ring to has remarked on how unusual it is, while not being too flamboyant or garish.(I would also mention the Rimu wood box in which the ring was delivered - this too was a talking point after the initial shock of my proposal had worn off: my fiance likes the box too and it helped show how much effort I'd gone to in choosing something really unusual for this important occasion).
