The Giannis Earrings

These utterly magnificent earrings were crafted in the 1920's at the height of the Art Deco era, an iconic vintage style that has transcended the ages. The Art Deco era, reflecting the excitement of the "Roaring Twenties," is known for combining bold geometric shapes with decadent diamonds. In these one-of-a-kind earrings, two rare matched pear shaped diamonds, each 4.59 carats, dangle from a row of old European and old mine cut diamonds. The combination of old mine and old European cut diamonds in these earrings showcases a unique juxtaposition of old and new diamond cutting techniques. Old mine cut diamonds have been prominent since the 17th century and are almost always cut entirely by hand, while old European cut diamonds revolutionized diamond cutting in the 1920's and were the first stones to be cut by machines to fashion more symmetrical facets. Set together, they offer a rare glimpse into history. Crafted in platinum with delicate milgrain details, and with a total diamond carat weight of 10.93, these earrings are the essence of old world glamour.

Art Deco Design Era

The Art Deco era was a high-spirited, free-thinking time of gangsters, flappers, and speakeasies running from 1920 to 1935. Reflecting this, Art Deco jewelry is stylish and fun, as jewelry became a realm in which women felt free to express their individuality and confidence. Styles became bolder, sharper, and more masculine than earlier periods, with futuristic motifs and geometric forms.
